Sarah P Corbett is an award-winning activist, Ashoka Fellow, author and founder of the global Craftivist Collective and this year became Greenbelt Festival’s first Craftivist in Residence.

In truth she's a proper legend.

And over the bank holiday weekend last August Greenbelt Festival asked me to document Sarah’s residency and sensitively capture her work that challenges traditional ideas of activism as loud and confrontational.

Sarah founded the Craftivist Collective in 2009 after demand from people around the world who wanted to join in her unique approach to craftivism (craft + activism). With over a decade of honing her unique ‘Gentle Protest’ methodology, combining neuroscience, positive psychology, and campaign strategy woven into beautiful handmade objects as catalysts for change.

Not only was it humbling to capture such a groundbreaking moment (and witness a different rhythm to how I photographed), it was a gift to find a new friend in whom gave me hope for all our 'tomorrows'.

It's why I work how I do and hold true to my values of telling stories that matter, in the hope that that these stories we create together give our lives a deeper and more connected meaning.
